Americans for Computer Privacy is a broad-based coalition working to ensure that the privacy of all Americans' confidential files and communications is preserved and protected in the information age, while placing U.S. industries on a level playing field with foreign competitors and creating high-quality American jobs.

Better Ethics Online is a nonprofit organization providing information on how to protect your copyright online and how to detect unauthorized use.

The Center for Democracy and Technology  is a nonprofit, public interest organization based in Washington, DC. The center's mission is to develop and advocate public policies that advance constitutional civil liberties and democratic values in new computer and communications technologies.

Center for Security Policy is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization to stimulate and inform the national and international debate about all aspects of security policy, notably those policies bearing on the foreign, defense, economic, financial and technology interests of the United States.

Global Internet Liberty Campaign advocates the prohibition of prior censorship of online communication -- requiring that laws restricting the content of online speech distinguish between the liability of content providers and that of data carriers; insisting that online free expression not be restricted by indirect means such as excessively restrictive governmental or private controls over computer hardware or software, telecommunications infrastructure, or other essential components of the Internet; and allowing online users to encrypt their communications and information without restriction.

Privacy International  is a human rights group formed in 1990 as a watchdog on surveillance by governments and corporations. PI is based in London, UK and has an office in Washington, D.C. PI has conducted campaigns in Europe, Asia and North America to counter abuses of privacy by way of information technology such as telephone tapping, ID card systems, video surveillance, data matching, police information systems, and medical records.

Privacy Journal  is a monthly newsletter reporting on new technology and its impact on personal privacy. It was founded in 1974
in Washington, D.C., and is now based in Providence, R.I.

The Privacy Place  is a useful resource for cryptography, encryption, or electronic privacy information.

Privacy Rights Clearinghouse offers consumers a unique opportunity to learn how to protect their personal privacy. Its publications provide in-depth information on a variety of informational privacy issues, as well as practical tips on safeguarding personal privacy. It also operates a telephone hotline for those who seek information about privacy issues.

Progressive Policy Institute  is a center for policy innovation that develops alternatives to the traditional debate between the left and
the right. PPI advocates growth-oriented economic policies designed to stimulate broad upward mobility and foster a more inclusive,
more democratic capitalism; social policies that move beyond maintaining the poor to liberating them from poverty and dependence

Safe Consumer Privacy Program  protects both Internet Users and Web Site owners, through a program which objectively reviews and audits online businesses and organizations to ensure what everyone in the online community needs and demands: privacy, security and integrity.

TRUSTe  is a non-profit, third-party oversight "seal" program, committed to building users' trust and confidence in the Internet accelerating growth of the Internet industry. Licensees are able to display the TRUSTe trustmark after they have agreed to abide by certain data practice and disclosure standards. TRUSTe provides ongoing oversight and resolution processes.
