Access America Vice President Gore's 1997 report, "Access America: Reengineering Through Information Technology" captured his vision of using information technology to deliver comprehensive government services to Americans and to dramatically increase government productivity. Alliance for Community Media  is a nonprofit, national membership organization founded in 1976, which represents the interests of over 1,000 public, educational and governmental ("PEG") access organizations (generally known as “public access”) and public access internet centers throughout the country. British Computer Society is the only chartered professional Institution for the field of information systems engineering, and provides service and support to the IS community, including individual practitioners, employers of IS staff and the general public. Formed in 1957, the Society now operates under a Royal Charter granted in 1984 which requires it, amongst other things, to ".... promote the study and practice of Computing and to advance knowledge therein for the benefit of the public." CERT Coordination Center is part of the Survivable Systems Initiative at the Software Engineering Institute, a federally funded research and development center at Carnegie Mellon University. It was started by DARPA (the Defense Applied Research Projects Agency, part of the U.S. Department of Defense) in December 1988 after the Morris Worm incident crippled approximately 10% of all computers connected to the Internet. Cyber High  Fresno County, California, Office of Education is in the process of developing a prototype to bring high school curriculum to any student who wishes to earn credit toward graduation. It will no longer be necessary to learn from a textbook alone or to follow a set schedule of class time dominated by the clock.  The classroom walls will be taken down and learning will be possible anytime the student has access to a computer and the Internet.

Cyberspace Policy Institute  established in October 1993 within George Washington University for the analysis of policy problems that have a significant computer systems component.  Inside GWU, the Institute brings together researchers with interests in these areas, bridging discipline barriers, much as the new information age is bridging cultural and geopolitical barriers.  Outside, it works with government and private organizations to examine important issues in computer and communications systems policy.

Davenetics is a daily email newsletter that keeps web professionals in the know. It features quick blurbs on the latest web-related news and links to the full stories from a broad selection of sources.

Democracy.net is dedicated to exploring ways of enhancing citizen participation in the democratic process via the Internet. To this end, democracy.net hosts live, interactive cybercasts of Congressional Hearings and online town hall meetings with key policy makers.

The Detwiler Foundation is a non-profit organization founded in September 1991 by John, Carolyn and Diana Detwiler. Now in its seventh year, the Computers for Schools Program has program activity nationwide and is the largest source of computer equipment for K-12 schools in California.

The Digital Coast Roundtable,  chaired by Los Angeles' Mayor Richard Riordan, is a consortium of local new media business leaders, under the auspices of the non-profit organization, Digital Coast, Inc.  It was formed to define, improve and upgrade the infrastructure and connectivity of the new media industry in the Los Angeles area.

Digital Divide Network  is produced and managed by the Benton Foundation, in association with the National Urban League, to tackle the growing gap between those who have access to technology and information skills and those who do not through a powerful knowledge network. The purpose of the DDN is to enable and facilitate the sharing of ideas, information and creative solutions among industry partners, private foundations, nonprofit organizations and governments.

E-conomy Project, University of California is a joint project of the Berkeley Roundtable on the International Economy, College of Engineering, Haas School of Business, School of Information Management and Systems at U.C. Berkeley, U.C. Davis, and U.C. San Diego. The project's goal is to create an institutional resource involving industry leaders, policymakers and academics in discussion and research to conceive new business models, more effective corporate strategies and informed policies for the emerging digital economy.

Economic Opportunity Institute develops pragmatic public policy that sustains security, hope and opportunity for Washington citizens. EOI defines and details new public policies that address the bread-and-butter issues faced every day by middle-income and low-income families. EOI builds a bridge to economic security through research, policy and media work.

Economic Strategy Institute was founded out of the deep concern of key U.S. industry and labor leaders with the erosion of America's economic leadership, and with the hostility of media and academic commentators toward efforts to halt the slide. ESI works to define a new economic agenda by challenging old assumptions and developing an integrated, macro/micro economic strategy to realize the full potential of America's rich material and human resources.
