6.3 Senator Publications

Some Senators also post press releases, policy positions, legislative updates, etc. on the Internet. You can view these documents on-line or you can subscribe to a Senator's information by topic. Every time that Senator posts a press release, for example, it will be sent to you, automatically, as e-mail.

WWW:

Direct your Web Browser to: URL: http://www.sen.ca.gov/

Select: "Who's your Senator?"

Then Select: "California Senators Home Pages"

Gopher:

Point to: gopher.sen.ca.gov

If your Gopher does not have an option to point to a particular domain reference, then locate the gopher menu option "Gopher Jewels/", and follow this trail of options: "Government/", "State Government/", "California Legislature Gopher/".

Select: "California State Senate (Offices and Floor Action)/"

Then Select: "Senator Information - by Senator Name"

E-Mail

You may need to send a series of e-mail messages:

 
       MAIL TO: Senate-News@sen.ca.gov
      SUBJECT: doesn't matter
         TEXT: list <senator>

     Example:

       MAIL TO: Senate-News@sen.ca.gov
      SUBJECT: doesn't matter
         TEXT: list Lockyer

     This will return to you an e-mail containing a list of the topics
     under which the senator has published documents.  Next, you will
     want to obtain a list of documents for a given topic. 

       MAIL TO: Senate-News@sen.ca.gov
      SUBJECT: doesn't matter
         TEXT: list <senator> <topic>

     Example:

       MAIL TO: Senate-News@sen.ca.gov
      SUBJECT: doesn't matter
         TEXT: dir Lockyer Press-Releases

     This will return to you an e-mail containing a list of filenames and
     subject titles for documents published under the selected topic.  Next,
     you will want to obtain one or more specific documents.

     MAIL TO: Senate-News@sen.ca.gov
     SUBJECT: doesn't matter
        TEXT: get <senator> <topic> <document>

     Example:

     MAIL TO: Senate-News@sen.ca.gov
     SUBJECT: doesn't matter
        TEXT: 
      get Lockyer Press-Releases SB_588_CAMPAIGN REFORM.TXT
      get Lockyer Press-Releases LOCKYER_ANNOUNCES_COM_APPTS.TXT
